Sugar'n Cream - Summer Top (crochet)

Solids 6 6 7 7 balls
or Ombres 7 7 9 9 balls

Size 4.50 mm (U.S. 7) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

GAUGE
3 shells and 9½ rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in shell pattern.

INSTRUCTIONS
The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes, the instructions will be written thus ( ).

BACK
**Ch 80 (86-92-98).
1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. *Miss next 2 ch. [(1 dc. Ch 1) twice. 1 dc] all in next ch-shell made. Miss next 2 ch. 1 sc in next ch. Rep from * to end of ch. 13 (14-15-16) shells. Turn.
2nd row: Ch 4 (counts as 1 dc, 1 ch). 1 dc in first sc. Miss next dc. 1 sc in next dc. *Miss next dc. Shell in next sc. Miss next dc. 1 sc in next dc. Rep from * to last sc. (1 dc. Ch 1. 1 dc) in last sc. Turn.
3rd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first dc. *Miss next dc. Shell in next sc. Miss next dc. 1 sc in next dc. Rep from * working last sc in 3rd ch of turning ch. Turn.

Bottom edging: Sew shoulder and side seams. With RS facing, join yarn with sl st to opposite end of foundation ch where last sc was made. Ch 1. 1 sc in same ch. *Miss next 2 ch. Shell in next ch (same ch where shell was worked in first row). Miss next 2 ch. 1 sc in next ch. Rep from * around bottom of garment, omitting last sc. Sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

Armhole edging: With RS facing, join yarn to armhole at underarm seam. Ch 1. Work 74 (80-80-84) sc evenly around armhole. Sl st in first sc.
Next rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. 1 sc in each sc around. Sl st in first sc. Fasten off.
