Adorable child's poncho will keep little ones warm and snug and cute as a bug. Sizes 2-4 yrs (21-23 in [53-58.5 cm]) & 6-8 yrs 25-26.5 in [63.5-67 cm]). Crochet in Lily Sugar'n Cream with size 5 mm (U.S. H or 8) crochet hook.

Size 5 mm (U.S. H or 8) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

GAUGE: 14 sts and 11 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in pat.

INSTRUCTIONS: The instructions are written for smaller size. If changes are necessary for larger size the instructions will be written thus ( ).

3 COLOR VERSION
FRONT and BACK: Work 2 pieces alike.
Note: Ch 2 does not count as first hdc in row.

With A, ch 84 (90).
1st row: (RS). 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 hdc in each ch across. Join MC. Turn. 82 (88) hdc.
2nd row: With MC, ch 1. (1 sc. Ch 2. 1 dc) all in first hdc. *Miss next 2 hdc. (1 sc. Ch 2. 1 dc) in next hdc. Rep from * to last 3 hdc. Miss next 2 hdc. 1 sc in last hdc. Turn.
3rd row: Ch 1. (1 sc. Ch 2. 1 dc) all in first sc. *Miss next dc and ch 2. (1 sc. Ch 2. 1 dc) in next sc. Rep from *, ending with 1 sc in last sc. Join A. Turn.
4th row: With A, ch 2. 1 hdc in first sc. *2 hdc in next ch-2 sp. 1 hdc in next sc. Rep from * to end of row. Join B. Turn.
5th row: With B, ch 1. 1 sc in each hdc across. Turn.
6th row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc across. Join A. Turn.
7th row: With A, ch 2. 1 hdc in each sc across. Join MC. Turn.
Rep 2nd to 7th rows for pat.
Work a further 21 (27) rows in pat. Fasten off.

FINISHING
Following Diagram, sew seams as shown.

Lower Edging: 1st rnd: With RS of work facing, join A with sl st at point of center back. Work 1 row of sc evenly around. Join with sl st to first sc. Break A.
2nd rnd: Join MC with sl st to first sc. Ch 1. (1 sc. Ch 2. 1 dc) all in same sc. *Miss next 2 sc. (1 sc. Ch 2. 1 dc) all in next sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Neck Edging: 1st rnd: With RS of work facing, join A with sl st at V of center back neck edge. Work 1 row of sc evenly around. Join with sl st to first sc. Break A.
2nd rnd: Join MC with sl st to first sc. Ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 dc in each sc around. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. Fasten off.

Drawstring: With MC, make a chain 36 (40) ins [91.5 (102) cm] long. Fasten off.
Weave drawstring through 2nd rnd of neck edging, having ends meet at center front.

2 COLOR VERSION
Work as for 3 Color Version using MC throughout. Work 2nd rnd of Lower Edging, Neck Edging and drawstring with A.
