MATERIALS
LilyŽ Sugar’n Cream (2.5 oz/70.9 g)
Tea Cup and Striped Towel Toppers
Main Color (MC) (White) 1 ball
Contrast A (Blue) 1 ball
Contrast B (Green) 1 ball
Size 4.5 mm (U.S. 7) knitting needles or
size needed to obtain gauge.
2 buttons (1 for each). Tea towels.
GAUGE
20 sts and 26 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in
stocking st.
INSTRUCTIONS
Tea Cup Towel Topper
With MC, cast on 7 sts.
**1st row: (RS). K1. *P1. K1. Rep from
* to end of row.
This row forms seed st pat.
Work a further 3 rows in seed st pat.
Next row: (Buttonhole row). Seed st pat
across 3 sts. yo. K2tog. Seed st pat to
end of row.
Cont in seed st pat until work from beg
measures 5 ins [12.5 cm] ending with RS
facing for next row.**
Next row: yo. Pat to end of row.
Next row: yo. Pat to end of row.
Next row: Work even in seed st pat.
Rep last 3 rows to 17 sts.
Next row: yo. Pat to end of row. 18 sts.
Next row: yo. Pat to end of row. 19 sts.
Next row: Pat 3 sts. K13. Pat to end of
row.
Next row: yo. Pat 3 sts. P13. Pat to end
of row. 20 sts.

Embroider Diagram over stocking st area
as illustrated. Fold strap over to back and
sew button in position. Trim tea towel,
pleat top edge to fit and sew to WS of
Towel Topper.
Blue Towel Topper
With A, cast on 7 sts.
Work from ** to ** as given for Tea Cup
Towel Topper.
Proceed as follows:
1st row: (Inc 1 st in next st) 7 times.
14 sts.
2nd row: (K1. P1) 7 times.
3rd row: (P1. K1) 7 times.
Rep last 2 rows 3 times more, then 2nd
row once.
Next row: (WS). Pat across 2 sts. *Inc
1 st in next st. Pat across 2 sts. Rep from
* to end of row. 18 sts.
Next row: With C, knit.
Next row: With C, purl.
Next row: With A, knit.
Next row: (WS). K1. *Inc 1 st in next st.
P1. K1. Rep from * to last 2 sts. Inc 1 st
in next st. P1. 24 sts.
Work 3 rows even in seed st pat.
Next row: (WS). K1. *Inc 1 st in next st.

Work 4 rows even in seed st pat.
Cast off in pat.
Fold strap over to back and sew button in
place. Trim tea towel, pleat top edge to fit
and sew to WS of Towel Topper.
