MATERIALS
LilyŽ Sugar’n Cream (70.9 g/2.5 oz)
Main Color (MC): (Blue) 1 ball
Contrast A: (Yellow) 1 ball
Contrast B: (White) 1 ball

Size 4 mm (U.S. G or 6) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. 2 tea-towels and 2 buttons for both Towel Toppers.

GAUGE
14 hdc and 10 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].

INSTRUCTIONS
Stripe Version
Note: To change color, work to last 2 loops on hook. Draw loop of next color through 2 loops on hook to complete st and proceed.

Stripe Pattern
Work 2 rows with MC.
Work 2 rows with A.
Work 2 rows with MC.
Work 2 rows with B.
Work 2 rows with MC.
Work 2 rows with A.
Work 2 rows with MC.
These 14 rows form Stripe Pat.

With MC, ch 9.
1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 8 sc.
2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
3rd row: (Buttonhole row). Ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 3 sc. Ch 2. Miss next 2 sc. 1 sc in each of last 3 sc. Turn.
4th row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of next 3 sc. 2 sc in ch 2 sp. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. 8 sc. Turn.
5th row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep last row until work from beg measures 5 ins [12.5 cm] ending with WS facing for next row.
Next row: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Working in Stripe Pattern, proceed as follows:
1st row: With MC, ch 2. 2 hdc in first hdc. 1 hdc in each hdc to last hdc. 2 hdc in last hdc. Turn. 10 hdc.
2nd and alt rows: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc to end of row. Turn.
3rd row: Ch 2. 2 hdc in first hdc. *1 hdc in each of next 2 hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn. 14 hdc.
5th, 7th and 9th rows: As 1st row. 20 hdc after 9th row.
11th row: Ch 2. 2 hdc in first hdc. 1 hdc in each of next 4 hdc. *2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in each of next 4 hdc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn. 24 hdc.
13th row: With MC, ch 2. 2 hdc in first hdc. 1 hdc in each hdc to last hdc. 2 hdc in last hdc. Turn. 26 hdc.
14th row: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc to end of row. Fasten off.

Edging: With RS of work facing, join B with sl st to any corner sc. Ch 1. 3 sc in same sp as last sl st. Work 1 rnd of sc, having 3 sc in corners. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Solid Version
Work as given for Stripe Version, omitting all references to color changes.
Edging: With RS of work facing, join B with sl st to any corner sc. Ch 1. 3 sc in same sp as last sl st. Work 1 rnd of sc, having 3 sc in corners. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Daisy Motif: Make 2 Daisy Motifs (one for each Towel Topper).
With Yellow, ch 5. Join in rnd.
1st rnd: Ch 1. 10 sc in rnd. Join White with sl st to first sc.
2nd rnd: With Yellow, ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *Ch 7. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in next ch. 1 hdc in next ch. 1 dc in each of next 3 ch. Miss next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 5 petals.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in missed sc in last rnd. *Ch 7. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in next ch. 1 hdc in next ch. 1 dc in each of next 3 ch. 1 sc in next missed sc in last rnd. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 5 petals.
Note: 5 petals from 2nd rnd should alternate with 5 petals from 3rd rnd. Fasten off.
Fold top down 3˝ ins [9 cm] and mark position for button. Sew button in position. Sew Daisy Motif to Towel Topper as shown in picture. Pleat tea-towel to fit and sew in position.
