MEASUREMENTS
To fit 6 cup tea pot: Approx 81/2 x 10 ins [21.5 x 25.5 cm] (excluding Feet, Comb and Wings).

GAUGE
14 sc and 15 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].

MATERIALS
LilyŽ Sugar ’n Cream (Solids: 70.9 g/2.5 oz; 109 m/120 yds, Twists: 56.7 g/2 oz; 86 m/95 yds)

Size 5 mm (U.S. H or 8)crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. Small amount of Brown yarn for eyes.

Hdc = Half double crochet.
RS = Right side.
Rem = Remaining.
Rep = Repeat.

Sl st = Slip stitch.

Yoh = Yarn over hook.

INSTRUCTIONS
Note: When joining new color, work to last 2 loops on hook of last st. Draw new color through 2 loops, then proceed in a new color.
Front and Back (make alike).
With B, ch 36.
1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 35 sc.
2nd row: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep 2nd row until work from beg measures 2 ins [5 cm], ending with a WS row. Join MC at end of last row.
Next row: With MC, ch 1. Working in both loops, 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep last row until work from beg measures 6 ins [15 cm], ending with a WS row.
Shape top: 1st row: (RS). Ch 1. Draw up a loop in each of first 2 sc. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook – sc2tog made.
1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc. Sc2tog over last 2 sc. Turn.
2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each st to end of row. Turn.
3rd to 6th rows: As 1st and 2nd rows twice more. 29 sts rem at end of 6th row.
7th to 10th rows: As 1st row. 21 sts rem at end of 10th row.
11th to 14th rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each st to last 3 sts. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked. 9 sts rem at end of 14th row. Fasten off.
Sew side and top seam.

Wings (make 2).
With MC, ch 20.
1st row: 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook (counts as 1 hdc). 1 hdc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 18 hdc.
2nd row: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 hdc in each hdc to last 2 hdc. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked.
Rep last row until 4 hdc rem.
Next row: Sl st in each of first 2 hdc. Ch 3. Sl st to next hdc. Fasten off.
Sew Wings along straight section of each side.

Comb
With B, ch 7.
1st row: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Ch 8. Sl st in next ch. Ch 10. Sl st in next ch. Ch 12. Sl st in next ch. Ch 10. Sl st in next ch. Ch 8. Sl st in last ch. Fasten off.
Sew to top of Tea Cozy.

Beak (make 2 pieces alike).
With A, ch 8.
1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 7 sc.
2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep last row twice more. Place marker at end of last row.
Next row: Ch 1. Sc2tog over first 2 sc. 1 sc in each of next 3 sc. Sc2tog over last 2 sc. Turn. 5 sts rem.
Next row: Ch 1. Sc2tog over first 2 sts. 1 sc in next sc. Sc2tog over last 2 sts. Turn. 3 sts rem.
Next row: Ch 1. Draw up a loop in each of next 3 sts. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook. Fasten off.
Sew sides to marked row. Sew Beak to Tea Cozy as shown in picture.

Claws (make 2).
With A, ch 2.
1st rnd: 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc.
2nd row: Ch 5. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and each of next 3 ch. (1 sc in next sc. Ch 7. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and each of next 5 ch) twice. 1 sc in next sc. Ch 5. Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and each of next 3 ch. Sl st in next sc. Fasten off.
Sew Claws in position (see picture).
With brown yarn embroider Eyes, using Satin St.
