Doll: Size 3.5 mm (U.S. E or 4) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. Stuffing. 2 small black beads for eyes. Small amount of red, black and brown embroidery floss for embroidery. Skirt and Vest: Size 5 mm (U.S. H or 8) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. Button.

GAUGES
Doll: 16 sc and 20 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].

Head
**With smaller hook and MC, ch 2.
1st rnd: 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc.
2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. 16 sc.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 24 sc.
4th rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 2 sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 32 sc.

Stuff Legs.
Finishing
Sew top of Legs closed using whip st. Sew to bottom of Body as shown in picture. Attach Arms to sides of Body. With black embroidery floss, embroider eyelashes using straight stitch. Sew beads onto front of Head for eyes. With brown embroidery floss, make freckles using French knots. With red embroidery floss, embroider mouth using straight stitch.

Hair fringe
Cut a piece of tape 11 ins [28 cm] long and secure onto a flat surface with sticky side up. Cut lengths of B 19 ins [48 cm] long and lay them across tape so strip of tape is in center of yarn.
Holding tissue paper over top of yarn and using sewing machine, run a line of stitching along length of tape. Remove tape when hair is secure. Remove tissue paper after stitching Pin fringe to center of head. Using backstitch and B, sew hair into place along sewn line. Braid Hair and secure at side of Head.

Skirt
Note: Ch 2 for turning ch does not count as st.
With larger hook and C, ch 25.
1st row: (RS). 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 hdc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 24 hdc.
2nd to 6th rows: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc to end of row. Turn.
7th row: Ch 2. *2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in each of next 3 hdc. Rep from * to last 4 hdc. 2 hdc in next hdc. 1 hdc in each of next 2 hdc. 2 hdc in last hdc. Break C. Join D. Turn. 31 hdc.
8th row:With D, ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 dc in first hdc.1 dc in each of next 3 hdc. (Yoh and draw up a loop in next hdc. Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) 3 times. Yoh and draw through all 4 loops on hook – dc3tog made. *1 dc in each of next 3 hdc. 3 dc in next hdc. 1 dc in each of next 3 hdc. Dc3tog. Vest
Front (make 2 alike).
With larger hook and D, ch 2.
1st row: 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Turn. 3 sc.
2nd row: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in next sc. 2 sc in last sc. Turn. 5 sc.
3rd row: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each sc to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. Turn. 7 sc.
4th row: As 3rd row. 9 sc.
5th to 10th rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc across. Turn.
11th row: Sl st in each of first 3 sc. Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc. Sc2tog. Turn. 6 sts.
12th row: Ch 1. Sc2tog. 1 sc in each st to end of row. Turn. 5 sts.

Sew side and shoulder seams of Vest. Put on Doll. Sew button to front of Vest through both thicknesses.
